PATNA: The Budget session of the state legislature of Bihar will begin from February 10, as per the revised schedule issued by the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. It will conclude on March 1. According to sources, chief minister Nitish Kumar may also expand his cabinet before the beginning of the Budget session.
As per the revised schedule, governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will first address the joint session of the assembly and legislative council in the central hall of the extended legislature building on February 10 at 11.30am.
On the same day, the CM will present the proposal regarding seeking confidence vote of the state assembly. The Economic Survey Report, 2022-23, and the proposed bills will also be tabled in the House.
The finance minister will present the state Budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year, and the debate on vote of thanks on the governor’s address to the two Houses. The government’s reply to it will also be conducted the same day.
The House debate on the 2024-25 budget and the government’s reply on it will take place February 13. The third supplementary budget will be tabled on February 27.
In between, as a state assembly source said, present Speaker has the option to resign voluntarily before February 12, or face his replacement through a process the same day. A group of NDA MLAs, led by former minister and senior BJP member Nand Kishore Yadav, has already submitted no-confidence proposal against the present Speaker.
