FNG Exclusive… FNG has learned that institutional FX and digital assets broker LMAX has hired Luke Dorney, as the company’s new Head of Custody.
Luke Dorney spent the past four years in the institutional digital assets space, most recently serving as General Manager & VP of Sales – US & EMEA for blockchain economy infrastructure solutions provider Blockdaemon. He was formerly Head of Sales & Partnerships for Zodia Custody, the Standard Chartered backed crypto assets custody solutions company. Last year we had reported that LMAX and Zodia partnered on crypto custody for CoinShares.
Prior to his time in the digital assets and blockchain world, Luke Dorney spent 12 years at JP Morgan, ending his tenure at the US banking giant as an Executive Director in JP Morgan’s Corporate Investment Bank.
This marks the second recent senior hire at LMAX for its LMAX Digital business. At the end of last month LMAX added XTX Markets executive Chris Knight to the role of Managing Director, overseeing the operations and future growth strategy of the LMAX Digital business, the company’s institutional crypto currency exchange.

Last week I joined LMAX Group to lead the growth strategy for digital asset custody. LMAX was one of the first companies I dealt with when I moved professionally into the digital asset space 4+ years ago. It was clear to me, very early on, that they were (and continue to be) a leading and trusted organisation at the forefront of developing the regulated institutional market structure for digital asset trading and custody.
The pace of change with digital assets is lightning fast; I’ve learnt that nothing remains the same for long and that you need to be ready for the next phase of institutional digital asset adoption – this next phase will be more exciting than ever!
