On June 18, Euronet is conducting a one-day protest aimed at drawing the attention of consumers, decision-makers and business partners to the current situation of ATM operators in Poland.

Today, Euronet are lowering the domestic cash withdrawal limit to PLN 200 per transaction.

The reason, according to Euronet, is VISA, Mastercard and BLIK not covering the costs of domestic cash withdrawals from ATMs incurred by ATM operators in Poland.

According to Euronet, domestic cash withdrawals are carried out by ATM operators in Poland more than twice below the costs they incur in connection with such a service. The disproportion between revenues and costs of domestic withdrawal transactions, in a situation of increasing demand for cash obtained from ATMs and decreasing possibilities of subsidizing domestic withdrawals with other sources of revenues, carries the risk of the inability to continue maintaining ATM networks.

As a consequence, a significant part of society is cut off from access to cash, especially in smaller towns, where ATMs are often the only source. At the same time, ATM withdrawal fees, set and collected by banks from ATM users, are constantly growing, additionally increasing the barrier of access to cash.
