BitTorrent Inc. has announced the release of BTFS V3.0, also known as Heisenberg, introducing several innovative features aimed at enhancing network security, user experience, and operational efficiency.

Key Features and Enhancements

The BTFS V3.0 update includes:

  • Enhanced Encryption Feature: In response to BTIP-72, the new version now supports symmetric encryption, catering to users’ diverse security needs.
  • Improved Node Security: Following extensive community discussions on BTIP-73, the import and export of keystore files are now enabled, enhancing node security and simplifying management.
  • Batch Withdrawal: This version supports batch withdrawals across multiple nodes, significantly streamlining the process for miners and boosting efficiency.
  • Improved Connectivity: The network connection has been extensively overhauled to ensure more stable and efficient data transmission.

BitTorrent Inc. expressed its commitment to enhancing the BTFS protocol and driving the progress of decentralized networks, appreciating the ongoing support and contributions from the community.

Upcoming Adjustments

A major adjustment to the BTT storage rewards is scheduled to take effect on June 25, 2024. The total daily storage rewards will be reduced to 7.5 billion BTT. Node operators must upgrade their nodes by June 25 to remain eligible for the adjusted storage rewards.
