This Monday the banks will remain closed in certain states across India due to Janmashtami. The festival varies differently from state to state, hence some states will not observe a holiday on 26th August.

The following are the states where the banks will be closed according to the bank holidays list issued by the Reserve Bank of India:

  • Gujarat
  • Odisha
  • Chandigarh
  • Tamil Nadu
  • Uttarakhand
  • Sikkim
  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Telangana
  • Rajasthan
  • Jammu
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • West Bengal
  • Bihar
  • Chhattisgarh
  • Jharkhand
  • Meghalaya
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Srinagar

Cities and states where bank holiday is not observed:

  • Mumbai
  • New Delhi
  • Maharashtra
  • Karnataka
  • Assam
  • Kerala
  • Goa

The entire nation will observe another bank holiday on 31st August due to the fourth Saturday of the month.
