Investor and trader social platform Stocktwits has announced the appointment of former Meta executive Rob Shaw as Chief Operating Officer (COO), reporting to Co-founder and CEO Howard Lindzon.
Bringing decades of experience building and scaling digital media platforms, he joins Stocktwits at a pivotal moment as traditional financial media struggles with the transition from television to digital, creating significant opportunity for digital-native platforms to capture market share. Shaw will provide strategic leadership on product development and community initiatives while spearheading the evolution of Stocktwits’ financial media capabilities.
Howard Lindzon, Co-founder and CEO of Stocktwits said,
“Rob has a proven track record of building engaged communities, driving revenue, and scaling growth on digital platforms across diverse media verticals. His deep understanding of how the modern user consumes content and the technology required to successfully execute against it will be invaluable as we shape the future of investing.”
Rob Shaw spent nearly a decade at Meta, where he served as Director of Global Sports Media Partnerships, leading sports strategy across all Meta platforms. Shaw was instrumental in developing Facebook’s sports video strategy, introducing live streaming and Reels across the media industry. He also led Facebook’s first sports sponsorship between Meta Quest and the National Basketball Association, and implemented Facebook’s sports content acquisition strategy with FOX Sports, CBS Sports, and Major League Baseball, among other global sports properties.
Rob Shaw most recently launched the Chicago Sports Network (CHSN), the official broadcaster of the Bulls, Blackhawks, and White Sox. As the Chief Revenue Officer, he led the sales, strategy, research, product, and digital media departments. Within four months of launch, CHSN was leading regional sports networks in consumption and engagement metrics across social and digital platforms.
“After over a decade building engaged communities at Meta and launching a major sports network, what drew me to Stocktwits is that they’ve built the most influential, digital-first investor platform where distinct investor communities – from crypto to long-term investors to day traders – can thrive,” said Shaw. “Stocktwits is perfectly positioned to create authentic, dedicated spaces that serve investors exactly what they want, when they want it, by the creators who know these spaces best.”
The appointment reinforces Stocktwits’ commitment to building best-in-class leadership as the platform scales its content operations. Shaw joins Anne Marie Gianutsos, who was hired as Chief Commercial Officer earlier this year, as well as Shiv Sharma, who transitions to Chief Strategy Officer and Managing Director of International. All three executives report to Lindzon as part of Stocktwits’ continued executive team expansion, driving Stocktwits’ growth to continue serving the evolving needs of modern investors. Stocktwits has grown into a dynamic platform, where social sentiment from over 10 million users in 200+ countries uniquely powers original news, video, and editorial coverage spanning retail, equities, crypto, and macro trends.
Rob Shaw graduated from Vanderbilt University, where he was inducted into the Vanderbilt Student Media Hall of Fame in 2025, and earned his MBA from NYU Stern. He has been recognized as a Sports Business Journal and Sports Techie Power Player and is an active committee member of UJA’s Sports for Youth.
