The New York Department of Financial Services (DFS) has posted a consumer alert regarding Pay-O-Matic.
DFS has confirmed that PAYOMATIC, a provider of check cashing and money transmission services, has ceased operations, and the Department has suspended the company’s licenses. Customers who have been impacted can contact PAYOMATIC customer service: www.payomatic.com/contact-us.
If you are unable to resolve your issue with PAYOMATIC, you can file a complaint with the Department’s Consumer Assistance Unit.
The website of Pay-O-Matic displays the following notice:
“To our valued customers,
We regret to inform you that, after more than 50 years of service to your communities, all Pay-O-Matic check cashing store locations are closed as of September 12, 2025. Additionally, the Pay-O-Matic Bill Payment Network and Pay-O-Matic bill payment services are no longer available either at our branch locations or participating agent locations in New York and New Jersey.

Please note that all inPOWER Prepaid Mastercard® cardholders may continue to use their prepaid cards anywhere Debit MasterCard is accepted and may access their money at ATM locations as normal.
