ATM manufacturer suffered a ransomware attack on its corporate network which was first reported by Security blogger Brian Krebs. Upon further inspection by the security officials at Diebold Nixdorf, it was discovered on April 25. The firm’s ATM and customer network seem to be unaffected by this malware attack.

According to Diebold, on the evening of Saturday, April 25, the company’s security team discovered anomalous behaviour on its corporate network. Suspecting a ransomware attack, Diebold said it immediately began disconnecting systems on that network to contain the spread of the malware, as reported by KrebsOnSecurity.

After further investigations, it was revealed that the attackers had attempted to install ProLock ransomware in the firm’s networks. The timely disconnection of systems on their corporate network helped the firm to contain this ransomware attack. Diebold Nixdorf said that while they did not pay any ransom, around 100 customers were affected for a brief amount of time due to the inconvenience caused by the attack.
