Banks in some states will be closed on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 on the occasion of Muharram. It is the first month of the Islamic calendar, and one of the four sacred months of the year.

In India every month on the second and fourth Saturdays, all private and PSU will be closed along with Sundays, national and regional holidays, as per the Reserve Bank of India rules.

Banks will be closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, MP, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Rajasthan, Jammu, UP, Bengal, New Delhi, Patna, Chhattisgarh, Jharkahand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh

Banks will be closed on the occassions of Beh Dienkhlam, MHIP Day, Kang (Rathajatra), Drukpa Tshe-zi, Harela, Muharram/Ashoora/U Tirot Sing Day in July.

The Bank holidays have been designated by the RBI as follows: Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
