HONG KONG – Barclays promoted Avinash Thakur to the head of capital markets financing in Asia Pacific on Friday, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters and confirmed by a company spokesperson.
The appointment of Thakur, who was most recently head of the investment bank’s debt origination teams in the region since 2016, was effective immediately.
With the newly created role, Thakur assumes additional responsibilities of leading the region’s equity financing activities.
Barclays said in the memo the promotion is part of its move to accelerate the execution of its investment banking plan. The British bank is undergoing a global restructuring with the overhaul of investment banking business at its core.
