Thiruvananthapuram: Industries minister P Rajeeve has said that the number of enterprises under the entrepreneurial year scheme has crossed two lakh in the state. An investment of Rs 12,537 crore and 4,30,089 employment have been generated through this.
The entrepreneurial year scheme was launched by the industries department to boost the economic growth of the state. From April 1, 2022 to December 29, this year 2,01,518 new enterprises have been started in the state, said Rajeeve.
One-third (64,127) of the new ventures are owned by women entrepreneurs. It also includes 8,752 enterprises of entrepreneurs belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes. The scheme launched in 2022-23 was continued this financial year under the name of Entrepreneurial Year 2.0. As part of this, 61,678 new enterprises have been registered since April 1, 2023. The minister also said that an investment of Rs 4,115 crore and 1,30,038 jobs have been created.
In the first year (2022-23) it was aimed at creating one lakh enterprises and 1,39,817 enterprises came into existence. An investment of Rs 8,422 crore and 3,00,051 jobs were created in the first year.
As many as 1,153 professionals have been appointed in all local bodies to provide necessary assistance to entrepreneurs. Help desks, which are open on Mondays and Wednesdays, have been set up in 1,034 local bodies of the state.
The minister also said that an online portal has been launched to collect information about initiatives launched by various departments and to keep accurate data related to them.
All 59 taluk industrial centres under the industries department have been converted into enterprise facilitation centres. Kerala Enterprises Loan Scheme (KELS) has been introduced in collaboration with the state-level bankers’ committee to provide loans to all micro, small and medium enterprises at an interest rate of 4%. The MSME clinics have started functioning in all districts.
As part of the Entrepreneurship Year, the industries department has formulated more schemes to expand new enterprises. The minister said that the mission to raise 1,000 enterprises selected from the MSMEs in Kerala into units with an average turnover of Rs 100 crore within four years is in progress.
