Cronos (CRO) has unveiled its zkEVM Pioneer Program, aiming to incentivize user engagement through a series of quests and reward mechanisms, according to Cronos.
Program Overview
The program allows participants to complete quests on the testnet to earn points. These points can be claimed within participating decentralized applications (dapps) on the Cronos zkEVM network. Users can potentially earn additional rewards while using the network and dapps.
More quests and point-related activities are expected to be announced in the coming days and weeks. To stay updated, users are encouraged to follow Cronos on their Twitter account and blog.
What is Cronos zkEVM?
Cronos zkEVM represents the next generation of blockchain networks. Powered by zkSync technology, it integrates with the Ethereum mainnet via a shared bridge. This setup leverages Ethereum’s user base and security while incorporating zkSync’s capabilities for secure and efficient cross-chain interactions.
As part of the broader Cronos ecosystem, the zkEVM chain operates alongside the Cronos EVM blockchain and the Cronos POS chain. The zkEVM chain is designed for high-performance, high-throughput DeFi applications and will not render existing chains obsolete.
Unique Features
Cronos zkEVM plans to introduce yield-bearing tokens such as zkCRO, vETH, and vUSD via Veno Finance. Unlike many platforms where token holders must forgo staking rewards, Cronos zkEVM allows users to earn triple rewards:
- Staking Rewards: Earn yields by holding yield-bearing tokens.
- DeFi Rewards: Gain returns by placing assets in various DeFi protocols hosted on the Cronos zkEVM blockchain.
- Pioneer Program Rewards: Receive additional rewards for completing specific actions beneficial to the ecosystem.
Program Vision
As the mainnet launch approaches, the zkEVM Pioneer Program aims to reward dedicated and valuable community members. The program seeks to foster growth and success within the Cronos zkEVM ecosystem by incentivizing active participation and engagement.
Core Principles
The program’s design is based on four key principles:
- Cronos-Centric: Recognize significant contributions to the Cronos zkEVM network.
- Early Supporters: Reward early adopters, especially those participating in the testnet and early mainnet stages.
- Broad Distribution: Ensure wide accessibility and benefits from various activities across the Cronos zkEVM and dapps.
- Transparency: Outline qualified tasks on a dedicated webpage, fostering a fair and trustworthy environment.
Types of Activities for Earning Points
There are three main ways to earn points:
- Amplify Community Influence on Social Media: Various community and social media quests will be launched in the coming weeks and months.
- Use Cronos zkEVM Testnet: Participate actively in the Tethys testnet quests on Galxe.
- Use Cronos zkEVM Mainnet and Dapps: Interact with dapps on the mainnet to earn points. More details will be revealed later.
Next Steps
While point-earning activities have not yet started, updates are on the horizon. The next quest, Cronos zkEVM Passage, will begin soon. Users are encouraged to bridge their Ethereum mainnet CRO for better rewards. The global crypto community is watching, and contributions to the Cronos ecosystem are highly valued.
