In June, inflows into equity mutual funds rose 17% to Rs 40,608 crore, up from Rs 34,697 crore in May, with more than half of the inflows coming from sectoral/thematic funds.

Sectoral/thematic funds saw a 16% increase in inflows, reaching Rs 22,351 crore. Meanwhile, debt mutual funds experienced an outflow of Rs 1.07 lakh crore in June, against an inflow of Rs 42,294 crore in May.

Among the equity mutual funds, multi-cap funds stood second in the inflow chart and received inflows of Rs 4,708 crore in June. All categories except for ELSS and focused funds received inflows in June. Both ELSS funds and focused funds have seen outflows for three consecutive months. In CY24, equity mutual funds have seen an inflow of Rs 1.65 lakh crore.

The smallcap funds have received inflows of Rs 2,263 crore last month. The dividend yield funds have received the lowest inflow of Rs 520 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 445 crore in May.

In the first half of 2024, sectoral funds have seen the highest inflow of Rs 70,716 crore, followed by multi cap funds which received inflows of Rs 17,357 crore. Focused funds saw the highest inflows of Rs 1,592 crore in the first half of 2024.

The debt mutual funds saw an outflow of Rs 1.07 lakh crore in June with maximum outflows recorded in liquid funds. The liquid funds saw an outflow of Rs 80,354 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 25,873 crore in May.

In the first six months of 2024, debt mutual funds have received an inflow of Rs 66,806 crore with maximum inflows seen in money market funds of Rs 54,014 crore.

Among debt mutual funds, most categories saw outflow except for low duration, money market, medium to long duration, and long duration funds in June. Money market funds received an inflow of Rs 9,590 crore in the reported month.

Medium-duration funds and credit risk funds saw continuous outflows in the first half of 2024. These categories saw an outflow of Rs 2,389 crore and Rs 2,367 crore respectively in the first six months of 2024.

The total inflows in hybrid fund categories declined 51% and stood at Rs 8,854 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 17,990 crore in May. All hybrid categories except for conservative hybrid funds witnessed inflows in June. Arbitrage funds received the highest inflows of Rs 3,836 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 12,758 crore in May. Multi-asset allocation funds received inflows of Rs 3,453 crore in June.

The dynamic asset allocation/ balanced advantage funds and balanced hybrid/aggressive hybrid funds received an inflow of Rs 644 crore and Rs 48.52 crore respectively. Conservative hybrid funds saw an outflow for the third consecutive month. The category saw an outflow of Rs 130 crore in June against an outflow of Rs 99 crore in May.

The hybrid funds received a total inflow of Rs 91,034 crore in the first half of 2024 with maximum inflows in arbitrage funds of Rs 52,314 crore. Conservative hybrid funds recorded an outflow of Rs 292 crore in the same period.

The net inflows in the ‘others’ category which includes Index Funds and ETFs went down by 7% and stood at Rs 14,601 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 15,655.24 crore in May. Other ETFs received the highest inflow of Rs 9,134 crore in June against an inflow of Rs 10,689.66 crore in May. Index funds received an inflow of Rs 5,071 crore in June. Gold ETFs received an inflow of Rs 726 crore. Funds of fund investing overseas recorded an outflow of Rs 330 crore.

In the first half of 2024, hybrid funds received an inflow of Rs 68,293 crore with Rs 43,163 crore inflows seen in Other ETFs. Funds of fund investing overseas saw outflow of Rs 1,488 crore in the first six months of 2024.

The total assets under management (AUM) of mutual funds went up by 4% and stood at Rs 60.89 lakh crore in June against Rs 58.64 lakh crore in May.

Around 17 open-ended NFOs were floated in June, which together mobilised Rs 15,227 crore with highest contribution by sectoral/thematic funds of Rs 12,974 crore. Around nine sectoral funds were launched in June.
