Around 16 lakh youths have been trained subsequently benefiting over 3 lakh MSME units in the last 9 years, through 18 tool rooms and technology centres run by the Ministry of MSME across the country, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane has highlighted.
These tool rooms and technology centres are also providing step-by-step support in manufacturing state-of-the-art products.
MSME Minister further informed that 15 more technology centres are being set up to further strengthen the MSME units of the country.

Chandrayaan-3 mission and MSME participation
As per the information provided by the MSME minster, Bhubaneswar Tool Room manufactured around 54,000 aero-space components of 437 types in the recently launched India’s iconic Chandrayaan-3 mission.
IDEMI Mumbai, institute under the Ministry, played an important role in manufacturing of parts for Chandrayan-3.
The Union Minister said that the success of this mission will prove beneficial for India as well as for the whole world. At this juncture when the nation is celebrating Azadi ka Amritkaal the success of this mission will surely establish new dimensions in the space, science, and innovation sector of the country.
The tool rooms have also played an important role in the Covid crisis. It helped in fulfilling the domestic needs of PPE kits, sanitizer machines, oxygen concentrators as well as in their exports to foreign countries.

They also help to improve the competitiveness of MSMEs in national and international markets conducting training programmes to provide skilled manpower to industries specially MSMEs.
Finance Minister asks RRBs to map with MSME clusters
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has asked the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to be mapped with the MSME clusters, and increase the network of rural branches in cluster areas identified by the MSME ministry.
RRBs need to make efforts to remove duplication of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts, and increase penetration under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, she stated.
A roadmap has to be prepared for completing the designated activities in a time-bound manner, she said.
The development came at a review meeting of RRBs of the Northern Region chaired by the Finance Minister.
The meeting which was also attended by DFS Secretary Vivek Joshi and senior DFS officials, representatives of the Reserve Bank of India, respective State Governments, NABARD, Sponsor Banks and RRBs.
RRB showcases improvement
It is to be highlighted here that in 2022-23, there was a substantial improvement in the financial performance of RRBs across the country as compared with the previous fiscal.
Government recently urged RRBs to redouble their efforts to achieve the targets fixed in the viability plans for these entities.
The Finance Ministry asked the Sponsor Banks along with NABARD to proactively handhold their respective RRBs for facilitating technology adoption. This will enable them to serve their customers more efficiently.
