Google for India 2023: The ninth edition of Google for India commenced on Thursday at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi with an agenda to showcase its innovations and initiatives for the Indian market, ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) to internet access.

Taking a trip down the memory lane, the event took off with a short video highlighting the timeline from the day India got access to the internet to today, when it is nearly impossible to imagine life without it.

Shortly after, Sanjay Gupta, Vice President, Google India took the stage to talk about how many invisible toll gates are stopping many Indians from realizing their digital dream and that generative AI is going to be the next ignition moment for India by eliminating these barriers.

Some of these challenges include language barriers, market access and lack of sources to raise capital, he pointed out.

Gupta highlighted that language translations can help users go beyond language barriers, dynamic supply reduction can help scale small businesses (SMBs) and bring about significant improvements in daily operations, and more importantly timely infusion of capital from legitimate lending sources can help them expand their businesses.

“The generative AI will be leverage in India in 4 major areas, building partnerships for Google, improving online safety, increasing access to formal credit, and inclusivity in access to AI,” Google India VP said.

The tech giant is anticipated to unveil advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and internet technologies during its annual event, including about 5 major announcements relating to Google Pay.
