Addressing the Lok Sabha members from the new building on the very first day, post-inaugural, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India’s banking sector is standing tall and has become the center of discussion.
“Technology such as introducing UPI has inspired nations,” said PM Modi Central Hall of Parliament.
Referring to India’s ascent into the top five economies, PM Modi said that the world and India are confident to break into the top three economies.
He touched upon the robustness of India’s banking sector. He noted the world’s enthusiasm for India’s digital infrastructure, UPI and Digital Stacks. This success is a matter of amazement, attraction and acceptance for the world, he said.
Prime Minister also expressed confidence that India is sure to reap the rewards on the chosen path. “Faster results can be achieved with a faster progress rate”, he said.
“The seeds planted by the G20 Summit will turn into a huge Banyan Tree of trust for the world.. During G20 we have become the voice of the Global South,” he said.
Emphasizing the need for India to scale new heights in the manufacturing sector, the Prime Minister highlighted the model of ‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’, where Indian products should be free from any defects and the manufacturing process must have zero effect on the environment.
He stressed moving forward with the objective of creating new global benchmarks in the manufacturing sector of India for products such as agricultural, designer, softwares, handicrafts etc.
PM Modi had earlier also highlighted the significance of banking sector in the Indian economy while addressing a Rozgar Mela.
After giving appointment letters to over 70,000 recruits virtually, PM noted that a large number of them have been employed in the banking sector.
He also highlighted how (PSBs) were seen as laggards a few years ago, leading investors to shun them and flock to the growth-hungry private sector banks.
Nari Shakti Vandan Bill
Another key development happened in the Parliament was the introduction of the women’s reservation bill named as Nari Shakti Vandan.
“World is witnessing contribution made by Indian women in different aspects of life from sports to startups. World has also recognised the women-led development process in country. We want that more and more women join the development process of the country, PM Modi said.
The Women’s Reservation Bill seeks to reserve 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies for women.
