The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on Tuesday that it will soon issue new Rs 100 and Rs 200 banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing the signature of RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
These new banknotes will have the same design as the existing Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, with no changes in security features, color, or size.
The central bank also confirmed that all previously issued Rs 100 and Rs 200 banknotes will remain legal tender and continue to be valid for transactions across the country.
The introduction of these notes is part of the RBI’s routine currency issuance process to ensure the availability of high-quality banknotes in circulation.
