Global consumer internet group Prosus (AEX and JSE Share Code: PRX) and its majority owner, Naspers Limited (JSE: NPN), have announced a significant change in their executive leadership. Bob van Dijk, who has been at the forefront as the CEO and Board member of both entities for a decade, is set to step down from his roles. Ervin Tu, currently serving as the Group Chief Investment Officer, will take on the mantle as the Interim CEO.
Van Dijk’s tenure has been marked by substantial growth and strategic expansion for the Group. Under his guidance, the Group solidified its position as a leading global consumer internet entity, yielding considerable value for its shareholders. Reflecting on van Dijk’s contributions, Koos Bekker, the chair, stated, “The Boards of Prosus and Naspers extend their gratitude to Bob for his decade-long leadership. His tenure witnessed the establishment of significant businesses in Classifieds, Food Delivery, and Payments, and the Group’s foray into several new sectors.”
The transition to Ervin Tu as the Interim CEO is anticipated to be smooth, given his influential role in shaping the company’s strategic direction. As the Chief Investment Officer, Tu has been instrumental in steering the Group’s key priorities, including driving the ecommerce consolidated portfolio towards profitability and overseeing capital allocation across the Group. Commenting on his new role, Tu remarked, “Prosus is on a strong trajectory. I am poised to further its vision and work with the exceptional team in place.”
Prosus, recognized for its global footprint, ranks among the world’s largest technology investors. The Group’s core operations span across online classifieds, food delivery, payments and fintech, and edtech sectors, with a significant presence in markets such as India and Brazil.
