Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das cast his vote early morning in Mumbai today and urged all electors to exercise their democratic right.

“I urge all the voters to vote…this is a right in our parliamentary democracy and everyone should exercise it,” Das reportedly said after casting his vote at a polling centre near his official residence his south Mumbai.

He added that voters should exercise their franchise in large numbers even during the remaining phases of the general elections.

“It’s a moment of pride to participate in an election of 140 crore people. The process of voting today was very smooth and I would like to congratulate the Election Commission of India and all the officials who have been working throughout the country. It’s really a moment of pride for every Indian to vote in these elections. I appeal every voter to come out and vote,” Das stated.

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons and businessman Anil Ambani were also among the early voters from the world of business.

Chandrasekaran exercised his franchise along with his family members at a booth in south Mumbai.
