The newly appointed Sanjay Malhotra takes charge as the 26th Governor of Reserve Bank of India for the next 3 years on Wedneday. His tenure is effective from December 11, 2024, a day after Shaktikanta Das signed off.

Governor Sanjay Malhotra will also hold a press conference at 3 PM today, RBI said in a post on X.

Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra has been appointed as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor on Monday.

Currently, Malhotra is serving as the Revenue Secretary under Government of India, and is a 1990-batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre.

He is a Computer Science graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and has a Master’s in Public Policy from Princeton University, US.

Sanjay Malhotra brings over 33-year of experience demonstrating leadership across various sectors, including power, finance, taxation, information technology, and mining.

Addressing his last press conference on Tuesday, Shaktikanta Das highlighted some of the key aspects that his successor need to take care of.

He said that resorting inflation growth balance is task ahead for RBI. The new governor will take it forward.
