Following our report from earlier this month that longtime XTB Chairman of the Supervisory Board (equivalent to the position of non executive Chairman of the Board of Directors), Jan Byrski, was stepping down from the board, XTB has announced the hiring of his replacement, in law professor Aleksander Chłopecki.
Aleksander Chłopecki is Professor, Head of the Capital Market Law Department at the University of Warsaw. He specializes in civil, commercial, capital market, banking and insurance law. He is also the President of the Arbitration Court at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. In his career to date, he has also served as Deputy Chairman for Legal Affairs at the Polish Securities and Exchange Commission, was a Member of the Management Board of the National Depository for Securities, and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of PZU.
Professor Chłopecki is the author and co-author of nine books and several dozen articles on securities law, commercial law and civil law, as well as the co-author of some legal regulations in force in the past and present on the Polish capital market.
He has also served as Of Counsel at global law firm Dentons (formerly Salans), since 2010.
From 2016-2024 he served as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Polish CFDs broker OANDA TMS Brokers SA. OANDA acquired TMS in 2021.
