The inflows in equity mutual funds dropped by nearly 16% in March, shows data released by AMFI on Wednesday.

The inflows in March stood at Rs 22,633.15 crore as against Rs 26,865.78 crore in February. In the equity category, all segments barring smallcap funds received net inflows in March. The total inflows in FY24 in the equity category stood at Rs 1.84 lakh crore.

The sectoral/thematic funds continued to receive the highest inflows in March to the tune of Rs 7,917.72 crore compared to Rs 11,262.72 crore in February. In FY24, the sectoral/thematic funds received the highest inflows among all equity categories of Rs 46,137.86 crore.

Large & midcap funds managed to gain investor interest with the second highest inflows of Rs 3,215.58 crore. Flexicap funds stood third with Rs 2,738.11 crore inflows in March.

Smallcap funds witnessed an outflow in March of Rs 94.17 crore. In FY24, the category witnessed total inflows of Rs 40,188.56 crore.

Among all equity categories, focused funds and largecap funds witnessed outflows in FY24 of Rs 4,060 crore and Rs 613 crore, respectively.

The debt mutual funds witnessed the largest outflows in March of around Rs 1.98 lakh crore. The category saw a total inflow of Rs 63,808.82 crore in February. Among debt categories, all categories witnessed outflows except for long duration funds, banking & PSU, and Gilt Fund with 10 year constant duration funds.
