Union Budget 2024: Govt raises ‘Make in India’ stakes with huge jump in allocation to PLI, other schemes

The government has upped the focus on economic growth as it raised allocations substantially to the schemes promoting manufacturing and sustainable development for the next year.

A crucial initiative for industrial growth, the Production Linked Incentive scheme witnesses a hike in allocation to Rs 6,200 crore for FY25, up from Rs 4,645 crore in FY24, demonstrating a robust 33.48% increase.

Modified Programme for Development of Semiconductors and Display Manufacturing Ecosystem saw a significant surge in allocation, with FY25 receiving Rs 6,903 crore, a substantial jump from Rs 3,000 crore in FY24, a 130% increase.

The Budget Estimate for FY25 saw a notable increase to Rs 8,500 crore, up from Rs 4,970 crore in FY24 for Solar Power (GRID), representing a substantial 71% rise.

National Green Hydrogen Mission got Rs 600 crore for FY25, a marked increase from Rs 297 crore in FY24, reflecting an impressive 102% rise.

MNREGA, Ayushman Bharat

The government has also maintained rural focus as it stepped up allocation for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA) to Rs 86,000 crore for FY25, up from Rs 60,000 crore in FY24, a significant 43.33% rise.

The healthcare scheme received a boost with an allocation of Rs 7,500 crore for FY25 for Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY:, compared to Rs 7,200 crore in FY24, reflecting a 4.2% increase.
